Incredible tour to an Incredible country

We arranged a Northern India tour with Ganpat, which covered Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Osian and Udaipur. The quote we got was very competitive, especially since we got a Toyota Innova as our vehicle, which was very comfortable and spacious for 3 people and our 2+ weeks worth of luggage.

All communication was done via email - Ganpat is easy to communicate and his responses are prompt, which is essential. We agreed on an itinerary and we fine tuned it to our liking. We were given a list of hotel recommendations, we chose a few from the list and others from our own research. All the places we stayed were wonderful.

There was a lot of driving involved - our driver Lokendra Singh was amazing. If you can drive in India, you can drive anywhere in the world. He is so skilled driving these roads and got us safely everywhere we asked him to take us. He was always on time waiting for us to start our day, and had bottled water for us at all times. We are very lucky we got Lokendra as our driver.

We had tour guides in all of the places we visited - mostly a good experience with them. The problem we saw is that they would take us to different shops where we would have to endure a demonstration of whatever the shop is selling (carpet creation, textile dyeing, etc) even when we were not interested in shopping. They obviously get a commission from this but I'd appreciate if they would have given us the option to decline going to these shops before spending all the time in traffic to get there. After the first guide or two we learned our lesson and we had to explicitly tell our guides to please NOT take us to shops. The first guide in Delhi took us without telling us and we did a lot of back driving which got us stuck and wasted a lot of time to the point we could not see one of the attractions we wanted to see as it got too late. Had we skipped the shop, we would have been able to. My feedback, if you have tour guides, please have them share the itinerary for the day with the visitors and give them the option to accept or decline the shop visits BEFORE time is spent driving to them.

The other reason why I'm not giving this a perfect score is due to the fact that we arrived at the Delhi airport and the driver wasn't there to pick us up. We arrived at 4:15 am and we ended up getting an Uber to our hotel - not ideal after travelling half the world and being very tired. Ganpat did apologize about this but this needs to be confirmed and double checked well in advance.
